FAQs

The bill you received details the services performed by our pathologists during your encounter at a Methodist Healthcare Facility and could be for one or more of the following:

  • Microscopic examination of your tissue – a biopsy or surgical specimen
  • Microscopic examination of a cytology sample – a fine needle aspiration
  • Interpretation of a blood or urine test

Pathologists interpret biopsy and surgical specimens, supervise, validate, and evaluate laboratory results to provide your attending physician with information needed for diagnosis and treatment.

Laboratory tests and pathology reports are given to your Doctor who can best interpret the results to you.

We will bill your insurance if we have your insurance information on file. Once your claim is processed, you should receive an Explanation of Benefits from your insurance company indicating the amount billed, payments received, adjustments taken, and balance due. We will send you a statement for amounts you owe only after your insurance has processed your claim.

Your statement will indicate the reason your insurance denied your claim. If you feel your insurance claim was denied in error, please contact our billing office at 210-892-0225, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will be happy to assist you in appealing your claim.
