Pediatric and Women’s Services

This service is staffed by board certified pediatric pathologists with special interests and years of experience in dealing with pediatric and perinatal disease. Our placental/perinatal service is quite active and includes the evaluation of a large number of placentas and tissues resulting from embryo/fetal loss.

In our study of placental pathology, our goal is to provide clinicians with the most currently available information regarding the correlation of our pathologic findings with potential adverse clinical outcomes, especially with respect to neurologic impairment. Tissues resulting from embryo/ fetal loss are subject to routine pathologic examination with the addition of cytogenetic/molecular studies and collaboration with specialists in the study of genetic/metabolic disease as indicated.
